School Food and Nutrition Services Introduces Chef Clubs in Middle Schools

School Food and Nutrition Services, in conjunction with the Nutrition Program of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE), sponsors “Chef Clubs” in the School Division’s middle schools. School food service managers, along with VCE staff and Master Food Volunteers, meet with the students monthly to provide hands on activities to help students develop a love for cooking. Monthly club meetings held in the school kitchen are planned to provide nutrition messages which promote healthy eating.

The eighteen middle school clubs will be hosting a formal dinner for their invited guest as a finale to showcase their new skills.
